Discover the Algarve by Car – Important Information
- We only deliver cars to addresses in the Lagos area and at pre-notified flight arrival times at Faro Airport.
- After collecting your baggage, pass through customs, and exit into the arrivals concourse. Turn left and continue 100 metres inside the building along the concourse, passing the Police Post and the Meeting Point on your left. You will then see on your left a counter signed Car Hire – Others and look for the Luzcar car hire sign.
- Reservations must be received no less than 72 hours in advance of your arrival time to guarantee a confirmed booking.
- When completing our reservations form, please do not forget to register your correct E-mail address in the field provided as without we cannot reply to you.
Airport Service
- To make a reservation we must have your flight number, date of arrival and flight arrival time in Faro Airport
- Faro Airport, Your car will be waiting for you on your exit from the baggage hall! Look for our agent with the Luzcar sign! you.
- Please note cars are only available for collection at Faro Airport between 07:00 and 20:00.
- An English Speaking representative will be at the airport to deliver your car to you! The representative will assist you complete the contract and payment procedures in the airport! ( Please note that payment is best in cash or by credit card). Just look for the LUZCAR sign on exiting the baggage hall.
- After collecting your luggage in the baggage hall exit through the barriers into the arrivals hall and turn left in the direction of the centre of the hall. After 10 metres you will see a yellow line on the floor and there you will find the Luzcar representative.
- Please ensure that you have available for inspection passports and valid drivers’ licences.
Car return
- At the end of your rental just leave your car at the airport car park or at our Lagos office.
Rental conditions
- Minimum rental age: 23 years
- All prices are per week
Prices Include:
- C D W (full Coverage)
- Theft protection, airport service fee and unlimited kilometres.
- Baby and Child seats are available free of charge upon demand.
- Additional drivers for your LUZCAR vehicle can be added to your rental contract free of charge subject to provision of relevant drivers’ licences and age – restrictions.
- Trips to Spain Luzcar vehicles can be taken to Andalucia including Sevilla, Cordoba, Cadiz, Granada .
- No cautions.
Payment :
- Payment is due on collection of the vehicle and processing the rental agreement.
- Prices for three days are equivalent to 50 % of weekly prices.
- For periods between 4 and 7 days, prices are equivalent to the daily pro- rata of the 3 day price.
- (Ex. a 4 day rental would cost equivalent of the 3 day price divided by 3, than multiply by 4.)
- For periods after 7 days is pro- rata
- (Ex. a 10 day rental would cost the equivalent of the weekly price divided by 7, and multiply by 10.)
Insurance :
- All quoted prices include unlimited mileage, full insurance coverage with the exception of coverage for theft of personal luggage and including cover of collison damage waiver, taxes and no cautions.
- Annual road tax is covered by Luzcar.

Prices shown for vehicle rental do not include:- Any insurance, should the customer be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, pursuant to Portuguese law
- Keys lost by the customer (approximate cost 250 Euros)
- Insurance of personal belongings left inside the vehicle in the event of theft from the same, being the sole liability of the customer
General Conditions
Types of vehicles
All makes and models of motor vehicles on the website are for illustrative purposes only in relation to the characteristics of the car to be rented. We cannot guarantee that the make and model of vehicle chosen will be the same as shown on the website at the time of booking. We only guarantee the rental of a motor vehicle of the same range and with the same characteristics.Drivers’ ages and driving licence
The minimum age for renting motor vehicles is 23 and the driver must have had their driving licence for more than 2 years. If the driving licence was not issued using the Latin alphabet (i.e. in Arabic, Greek, Russian or Chinese), an International Driving Permit (IDP) will be required attached to the original driving licence.Additional drivers
All additional drivers included under this rental contract must comply with the rules mentioned in the preceding item.Vehicle accidents
In the event of an accident, calling the authorities (112) and filling in the accident report is mandatory (whether or not the accident was the fault of the driver). Should it be proven that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, the customer shall be liable to pay all costs for damage caused to the motor vehicle.Insurance cover
The prices shown include insurance against all risks (CDW, Super CDW, TDW).Fuel policy
No fuel deposit is required.
Customers should return vehicles with the same quantity of fuel as when they were picked up.Mileage policy
Unlimited mileage.Border crossing policy
Only crossing the border between Portugal and Spain is permitted.Payment methods
The rental contract may be paid by credit card – American Express, MasterCard, Visa – debit card or cash (EUR).Special Group Bookings (F,G,H)
To confirm a booking for special groups F, G and H, a deposit of 50% of the value of the booking will be necessary.
The deposit paid is non-returnable in the event of cancellation.
